VA Medical Center - Kernersville, North Carolina

The new state of the art VA Medical Center, located on 39 acres in Kernersville, North Carolina will open its doors to veterans across the southeast in the fall of 2015. The cutting edge facility plans to treat 39,000 veterans a year and bring 500 new jobs to the triad region. The four level, 370,000 square-foot design assist project boasts: four full service operating rooms, a dialysis department, dental facility and dental operatory, physical therapy department, mental health center, as well as a pharmacy, CT scan and MRI capabilities. The new VA will operate as a full service medical clinic, a welcomed addition to North Carolinas growing demands. Kirlin-Way Mechanical's scope includes the installation of 10 efficient air handling units, capable of keeping the LEED gold certified building comfortable year round with the help of two 675 ton chillers, three gas fired boilers, and 650 Variable air volume boxes, each with sound attenuators to mitigate indoor noise levels. Additionally, two gas fired domestic water heaters keep hot water moving through the building and readily available. Kirlin-Way Mechanical utilizes two North Carolina based fabrication facilities to streamline its field operations efficiency, while maintaining Kirlin-Way Mechanical's dedication to delivering successful projects on schedule, and under budget.
