Williamsburg Federal Corrections Institute

The correctional institution contains 864 cells and houses approximately 1,150 inmates. The Federal Prison camp consists of several support buildings. The project was a design-build contract that was engineered completely through the metric system. The facility will have a gross building area of approximately 62,360 square meters or 519,000 square feet when completed in June 2003. The General Inmate Housing Buildings are four levels each and all other buildings are single levels. The campus plan arrangement includes a central utility plant that provides heating, and cooling thermal distribution to select buildings.
